During our recent trip to Costa Rica, we had the opportunity to visit Rainforest Adventures, located on a private preserve adjacent to Braulio Carrillo National Park.
Rainforest Adventures park covers 1,200-acres and offers private ecology tours on the Atlantic side of Costa Rica. It shares a 10 kilometer border with Braulio Carrillo National Park, and serves as a buffer zone between the park and local farmland.
The facility includes a 70-minute aerial tram ride through the lush rainforest, a butterfly garden, orchid gardens, hiking trails, zip lines, bird watching tours and more adventures.
The staff were all friendly and knowledgable, and enthusiastic!
The gondolas on the aerial tram move at a slow, even pace, sometimes high above the rain forest, other times near the forest floor. Six visitors can be accommodated in each gondola, along with a naturalist guide. We also toured the 200 sq meter Butterfly Garden, where our guide pointed out various butterflies in the enclosure, and explained their life cycle.
An excellent, fresh meal was provided as part of our tour. A well done gift shop is available, as are public restrooms.
Included below are a few photo highlights of our recent tour. We highly recommend a visit to Rainforest Adventures when in Costa Rica.
It is located on Route 32, next to Braulio Carrillo National park, 5 kms after the Rio Sucio Bridge. The location is about 50 minutes from San José, and 2 hours from Limon.
