Edith's Checkerspot Butterfly (Euphydryas editha) can be identified by its wings which are black with red and pale yellow or white bands. There is variation in the appearance of subspecies of Edith's checkerspot based on the areas they inhabit.
It can be found in western North America, from Baja California, Nevada, Colorado and Utah into Southern British Columbia and Alberta, Canada.
