Purplish Fritillary

The Purplish Fritillary (Boloria chariclea) is a medium-sized butterfly found in the northern parts of the Palearctic and Nearctic. In North America its range includes Alaska and much of Canada, the north Cascades, the Rocky Mountains southwards to Utah, as well as northern Minnesota, northern Maine and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. In Europe it can be found in northern Lapland and Russia. It is also known as the Arctic Fritillary.

The coloration of the Purplish Fritillary is typically orange with dark brown markings.
