The Silvery Checkerspot (Chlosyne nycteis) is mainly dark brown in color, with numerous orange spots and blocks on each wing. It ranges from southern Canado into Texas. The Silvery Checkerspot can often be found in open spaces such as forest edges, fields and moist stream beds.
